The Los Angeles Dodgers have gone all in to win at the last few trade deadlines, and The Athletic’s Jim Bowden expects them to do the same in 2026.

The Dodgers have struggled with injury over the past few seasons, especially within their pitching staff, leading to more supplementary moves in the summer rather than blockbuster deals to bring in a superstar. They’ve already sustained several high-profile injuries to their pitching staff this season, leading Bowden to believe they’ll make some similar moves.

“Blake Snell returned briefly from the IL before going back on the shelf with loose bodies in his pitching elbow,” Bowden wrote. “LA lost their impact closer Edwin Díaz to elbow surgery but Tanner Scott and Alex Vesia have stepped up thus far. Their pitching depth has been tested, and the Dodgers signed lefty swingman Eric Lauer over the weekend to help them through this stretch.

Despite the uneven start, the Dodgers are still the favorites to win it all. Injuries will dictate what they look to add at the deadline but they will be buyers as usual.”

The slew of injuries they’ve suffered have certainly set the Dodgers a little off track, but they’re still performing at an extremely high level despite those hindrances. They currently lead the NL West by 0.5 games, and haev the opportunity to extend that lead to 1.5 games against the San Diego Padres on Wednesday.

Who Did the Dodgers Trade for at Last Season’s Deadline?

The Dodgers faced a similar issue to 2026 last year, losing just about every one of their pitchers to injury at some point or another.

They shipped James Outman to the Minnesota Twins for Brock Stewart during the deadline, and while Stewart may have only pitched four games for LA last year, it showed the Dodgers were willing to make some moves to ensure they had the necessary depth to last into October.

They also threw Hunter Feduccia into a three-team trade to acquire Ben Rortvedt, Paul Gervase and Adam Serwinowski, and the right-handed Gervase featured for them during the regular season as well.

Even if injuries aren’t in the picture, the Dodgers won’t shy away from bringing in pieces to give their struggling bats some competition. Amid Michael Conforto’s struggles last year, the Dodgers traded for Alex Call to function as a corner outfielder.

The Dodgers have shown in recent years they’re willing to do anything to compete, and they’re more than likely to do the same at this year’s deadline.

What position should the Dodgers look to add at the deadline? Who would you want to trade for?
