A routine night at Double-A Tulsa quickly turned into an unfortunate situation for one of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ promising young prospects.
Outfielder Kendall George was involved in a bizarre on-field incident after scoring a run and heading back toward the dugout when Tulsa’s bat dog unexpectedly crossed directly into his path. Attempting to avoid contact with the dog, George awkwardly shifted his movement and appeared to injure himself in the process.
While the exact severity of the injury has not yet been confirmed, the moment immediately sparked concern given George’s style of play and the importance of his speed to his development as a prospect.
Bat dogs have become a beloved part of the Minor League Baseball experience, with trained dogs retrieving bats following plays and entertaining fans between innings. However, in this case, the timing of the dog’s entrance onto the field created an unsafe situation during live action.
