Los Angeles Dodgers new prospect Bo Lowrance has not shied away from comparing his game to some of the modern greats.
Lowrance was the No. 21 overall prospect, according to MLB.com, though he ended up going at pick 40 to the Dodgers.
He is a massive 6-foot-5, 200-pound high school infielder listed as a shortstop, but his future likely lies at third base.
Lowrance hit .435 with 12 home runs last season at Christ Church Episcopal School in Greenville, South Carolina, hitting from the left-handed side.

On a scale of 20 to 80, MLB Pipeline has Lowrance as a 55-grade hit tool and a 55-grade power rating.
With his height and scouting profile, Lowrance was not shy about drawing inspiration from Dodgers star Freddie Freeman, one of the best contact hitters ever.
“He’s obviously a first baseman, and I’m on the left side, so defensively a little different,” Lowrance said of Freeman.
“But he’s still unbelievably athletic, and a big thing that I’ve watched for years is his approach and how he uses the whole field. … [Freeman is] somebody that I’m always trying to emulate.”
Additionally, Lowrance eyed former Dodger Corey Seager, who was developed as a home-grown talent to be a World Series Champion, as another player whom he tries to model.

Seager measures six feet four inches and plays good defense despite his height not being typical for someone at the position.
Lowrance wants to stay at shortstop, and the Dodgers will give him some rope to develop at that spot.
“Yeah, definitely want to be a shortstop,” Lowrance said. “I believe I’m capable of it. I think I have the glove skills and the athleticism. I think it’s just going to turn into who I want to become at the plate in terms of my overall size and frame.
“Like, if I ultimately put on a bunch of weight and kind of grow out of the shortstop position, then maybe that’s where that’ll change.”
While still years away from even entering the MLB roster bubble, Lowrance has the potential to be a cornerstone of the infield, being a natural successor to Freeman in the batting order and taking over Seager’s former spot as well.
