Two days after The Athletic’s Evan Drellich erroneously identified Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Miguel Rojas as the recipient of an 80-game suspension due to PED use, the World Series hero is addressing the issue.

Rojas told Chris Rose on his podcast that this is more than just a typo.

As Rose characterized Drellich’s tweet as being “mistyped,” Rojas jumped in with a “let me stop you right there,” adding that the inclusion of the Dodgers’ name alongside his shows this was no mere mistake.

“He didn’t mistype my name. He did it with all the intention to put my name and the organization’s name on that tweet,” he said.

Miguel Rojas Wants an Apology to the Team

Given the inclusion of the Dodgers in the tweet, he feels that the team, not just him, deserves an apology.

“You don’t even know how Andrew Friedman felt after these accusations that, for six minutes, rumbled my whole world and got so many people around me and around us, the team, the Los Angeles Dodgers, worried, because one guy ‘made a mistake,'” Rojas said. “I’m totally OK with making mistakes, but at the end of the day, I was expecting an apology.”

Rojas said he’s not active on social media, so he expected the reporter to reach out to the team or to him directly to apologize. That hasn’t happened, though, he said.

“I’m not asking for an apology for me, but he mentioned the Los Angeles Dodgers organization as well, and I really respect that,” Rojas said. “I don’t want the people involved with the organization to have to deal with something like that when it didn’t even happen.”

Rojas added that he won’t speak on the false PED report again because he doesn’t want to make it a bigger story than it is, but he was hurt by the lack of apology, agreeing with Rose that it’s “bulls—.”

“Yeah, it is bulls—,” he said.

If It Wasn’t Miguel Rojas Who Was Suspended, Who Was It?

It appears the suspended player was a different Rojas, Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Johan Rojas.

“I’ve deleted a post incorrectly identifying who was suspended today,” Drellich wrote on social media. “It was Johan Rojas of the Philadelphia Phillies who was suspended.”
