The competition in the Division 1A women's World Championships looking to advance to the top division next year is fierce, and features parity. But some of the more consistent programs on the world stage opened with wins.
France Decisive Over The Netherlands
Chloe Aurard and Estelle Duvin each finished with four point games as France defeated the Netherlands 8-3 to open their hunt to bounce back to the top division of the World Championships. Depending on the International Olympic Committee's decision with Russia, this could be France's final international tune up prior to the 2026 Winter Olympics as well.
Duvin scored a hat tick, while Aurard had a goal and three helpers in the win. Also scoring for the French were Clara Rozier, Manon le Scodan, Julia Mesplede, Emma Nonnenmacher.
Savine Wielenga, Bieke van Nes, and Kayleigh Hamers scored for the Netherlands.
Slovakia Earns Critical First Win
Many expect Slovakia to be a nation on the rise, and they showed that to be true in their opener beating China who was coming down from the top division last year, while Slovakia was coming up from Division 1B.
Slovakia outshot China 43-15 and took a 4-0 win.
Ema Tothova, Janka Hlinkova, Laura Sulikova, and Nicola Nemcekova had the goals fo Slovakia, while Livia Debnarova had the shutout.
