Kingston McKoy scored 18 points and Carmelo Harper added 16 as defending district champion Berks Catholic rolled to a 62-35 win over Schuylkill Valley in the semifinals of the District 3 Class 4A boys basketball tournament at Berks Catholic on Tuesday night.

The Saints (24-2) will play the winner of Bishop McDevitt-Big Spring on Friday at a site and time to be determined for the district title.

The Panthers (15-10) will play the loser of that game for third place.

Both Berks Catholic and Schuylkill Valley qualified for the PIAA tournament by making the district semifinals. District 3 advances five teams to the state tourney in 4A.

The Saints jumped to an 18-6 lead after the first quarter as Harper had 7 points, including a 3-pointer.

The Panthers clawed back into the game, cutting it to 3 at one point, and trailed 30-22 at halftime.

They only scored 4 points in the third quarter, as Berks Catholic had a 20-4 edge in the quarter with McKoy getting 8 points.

The Saints have won 18 straight games with their last loss to Reading High, 48-40, on Dec. 29.

For the Panthers, Alex Aletras had 11 points and Zachary Reeser 10.
