Well... watch the video... :grabs:

When three friends finished their meal at a California restaurant, they did not expect to be insulted on the bill.

That is exactly what happened to Christine Duran, Christina Huerta and Isabel Robles when they visited Chilly D's Sports Lounge, part of the Cameo Club Casino, in Stockton, Calif., according to ABC affiliate News 10. When the three diners got their check they saw "fat girls" written on their bill.

"I got the bill, and I was like, why does the receipt say, 'fat girls?'" Duran told News 10. At first, her friends didn't even believe her. "[Huerta] was like, 'You're lying,' And I was like, 'No, I'm serious. Look at it.' She was like, 'fat girls?'"....

The server was probably just tired of having all his mail addressed to "Enormous *******" and took it out on someone else.

If that happened to me, my question for the sever would have been "Have you ever had your ass kicked by a fat man?"

Uncaring, and insensitive to say the least...maybe even actionable, but the girls will get over it I'm sure.

They are fat, not that there is anything wrong with that.

Ask yourselves these questions:

When's the last time you called a stranger "fat" in a nice way? Did you say it to their face? What was their reaction?

Would have been appropriate if the server had listed them as Black girls, Indian girls, Mexican girls, Colored girls, Negro girls, Jew girls, Bimbos, etc. if the term was applicable?

How many fat people do you know that like to call themselves fat?

Fat is an aptly descriptive terms that is typically used in a negative manner like, for instance, Mexican. Most white people I know are afraid to say Mexican around Mexicans, unless they're talking about Mexican food. Why? Because amongst other white people it allows them to convey a negative stereotype quickly in a conversation.

Example:

"What's her problem?"
"She's Mexican"
"Oh, that makes sense."

Take that exchange, and substitute "Mexican" with any other adjective you like (as I did above).

See what I'm saying?

Now, I can't say that "Jeff" (the guy at the restaurant that typed that in) was being descriptive, or derogatory. Either way, it was inappropriate. As a general business practice you should avoid doing things that will piss off customers.

Yes. They were fat girls. You are what you are. What should it have said, "cute minus 75 pounds?"

If Jeff had lable'd the ticket "better lovers" or "givers" (same thing), he would have probably gotten a tip instead of hiding.

Now they know, if they didn't know before the message. Love to know what they ordered. :D

Obesity is epidemic in this society. Maybe shock will work better than patronizing. Hopefully this rude message will affect their habits and lifestyle.

Right, because self-loathing is so much better than being fat.

More free cheeseburgers and diet cokes?

Sorry, couldn't resist.

I have long wondered, at what point does one have to be when they finally look down and think, "wow, I need to change the lifestyle". :D

Oh come on, you can't possibly believe this. Fat people are so conscious of their weight they often hear fat-insults where there are none and it's done absolutely nothing to stem the tide. And unless you truly think insulting someone is the basis for a cure, this is just bullying.

i feel the same.

not to say that its insensitive. but seriously, is it news worthy? Fat people getting called fat to their face is not news worthy, and barely debatable.

they are fat. if they have a problem with it, then dont be fat.

Pffffttt. They are the ones who went public, so obviously they are proud of their figures. Confusing huh? Conflicting? Mixed message.

Nice logic.

Steve

Seems to me that logic has flown out the window.

There is one indisputable fact: This was done at a restaurant. You don't insult your customers. PERIOD. Some people might take it a different way, but just the smallest chance of getting someone that won't is enough to just NOT DO IT. Period, period, period! How anyone can argue against that is beyond me.
