The Washington Commanders unveiled their 2026 uniforms on Wednesday. The reviews have largely been positive as these uniforms are reminiscent of the old-school Redskins uniforms worn in the 90s. Of course, you can't please everyone; there will always be someone who complains!

Uniform specialist Zach Cohen of FanDuel breaks down the Commanders' new uniforms, reviewing what is new, what he likes, and what is the same.

My initial Washington Commanders uniforms review!

- Not many surprises, but gold pants is a welcome one!
- Black Hail Raiser uniform may not be necessary, but it does look sharp
- Switch to a glossy shell the right call imo

Initial Verdict: a drastic improvement from the… https://t.co/cgsxEgNXEapic.twitter.com/q9I4Gmp7uo

Cohen is almost always right on his uniform predictions every year, and in February, he shared what he thought the team would do with the uniforms this year. On Wednesday, after the reveal, he's asking if the Commanders got it right. After breaking down the new black uniform and discussing the spear through the W, Cohen continues.

"But my points still remain. Do I think a black uniform is necessary for the Commanders? No. I do think you can make the argument it pushes the brand in a new direction, and this one is definitely, definitely better than the black alternate they previously had. And the two big additions, like I've said, the Commanders switched into a glossy shell to better encapsulate their Super Bowl era throwback look. That is what the whole uniform here is based off of, and I spy gold pants, a nice touch. Probably the alternate combination for both the primary and the away uniform.

"The away uniform is still the white throwback jersey that they wore last season. So, overall, I think this look is definitely an improvement by the design atrocities that they've worn the last few years. Is it the best they can do? You tell me."

The new black uniforms have been widely applauded by the Commanders' fanbase so far, and the new helmets are both improvements. In this video, you can get a better idea of what the uniforms look like in natural lighting.

As teams continue to reveal their uniforms for the 2026 season, we'll get a peek at what the rest of the league is doing. The Commanders, though, seem to have earned the approval of most of their fanbase with their updated uniform designs and color updates.

Stay tuned for the release of the uniform schedule that will be revealed later this summer.
