Maggie Doogan was the best player in the country that many people hadn't heard of.
The Richmond Spiders superstar had a great case to be chosen in the 2026 WNBA Draft on Monday night.
In 2025-26, she had incredible numbers:
- 21.1 PPG
- 7.9 RPG
- 3.9 APG
- 50.6% FG
- 40.4% 3FG
- 89.0% FT
- 0.9 SPG
- 1.1 BPG
It'd be tough to imagine better stats.
Despite that, Doogan didn't have the draft night she wanted.

Why didn't Maggie Doogan get drafted?
The only way to speculate on this is to assume that Richmond's level of competition wasn't respected enough.
Doogan couldn't have done more against the teams on the schedule. She had numbers that are reminiscent of a player like Dirk Nowitzki.
And in this year's First Four, she scored 24 efficient points with 10 rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal in a loss to Nebraska.
Doogan certainly made her case, and she'll surely get a training camp look.
