NEED TO KNOW

  • The Inside the NBA crew included Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini in their “Gone Fishin’” graphic after Boston’s playoff loss
  • Vrabel and Russini were depicted in a Titanic pose amid ongoing controversy surrounding their alleged relationship
  • Vrabel recently announced he is seeking counseling following photo leaks

The Inside the NBA crew had some unexpected guests on their “Gone Fishin’” boat!

After the Boston Celtics lost Game 7 of their first-round playoff series to the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday, May 2, Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny Smith, Charles Barkley and Ernie Johnson sent them off to the offseason via the show’s traditional graphic — and cheekily included New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel and sports reporter Dianna Russini in the mix of Boston-anchored celebrities aboard the boat.

The two, who have been involved in a photo scandal since early April, were posed a la Titanic, with Vrabel’s arms around Russini’s waist as she stood at the bow with her arms outstretched.

Among the vessel’s other occupants were Celtics stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, plus sportswriter Bill Simmons, and actors Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Mark Wahlberg.

After identifying most of the passengers on the boat by name, Johnson, 69, stopped short of calling out the NFL coach and the former senior NFL insider at The Athletic.

“That’s all I see on the boat, I don’t see anything else,” Johnson joked.

For Vrabel, getting out of town was a priority last month.

The former NFL linebacker-turned-coach, 50, was seen buying a woman’s hoodie while at a boutique at the Salt Lake City airport on Saturday, April 25, the same day as Day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft.

Days earlier, he announced that he would be stepping away from the team to seek “counseling” after three separate photo dumps dating back to 2020 were published, which showed him involved with Russini, 43, at various venues, from Arizona to Mississippi to New York City.

"As I said the other day, I promised my family, this organization and this team that I was going to give them the best version of me that I can possibly give them. In order to do so, I have committed to seeking counseling, starting this weekend," Vrabel said Wednesday, April 22, according to ESPN. "This is something that I have given a lot of thought to and is something I would advise a player to do if I was counseling them.”
