The Arizona Diamondbacks have released a veteran right-handed pitcher.

The 32-year-old earned himself a World Series ring with the Washington Nationals in 2019, and has played for three different organizations at the Major League level since.

Joe Ross signed a minor league deal with the D-Backs during the offseason and cracked the Opening Day roster. He didn't have good results in the Majors, allowing eight earned runs on seven hits in 3.2 innings.

"Ross has pitched in parts of nine big league seasons and sits just one day shy of eight years of major league service," Steve Adams of MLB Trade Rumors wrote. "He showed glimpses of breaking out as a quality big league starter early in his career, but much like his older brother (Tyson Ross) was routinely set back by injuries."

The best year of Ross' career may have been back in 2016 with the Nationals. He posted a 3.43 ERA in 19 starts, holding opponents to less than one home run (0.8) per nine innings.

He worked as a swingman on the Milwaukee Brewers' pitching staff in 2024 and threw 51 innings for the Philadelphia Phillies a season ago.

Ross is now a free agent and can sign with any team with interest.
