PHOENIX – Winning games may fill Chase Field today, but creating lifelong fans ensures it stays full tomorrow. That is why the Arizona Diamondbacks’ annual Kids Free Weekend has become one of the organization’s most meaningful traditions.
For the July 17-19 series against the St. Louis Cardinals, the Diamondbacks are once again partnering with Wendy’s to offer up to two free tickets for children ages 15 and younger with the purchase of one paid adult ticket. The promotion applies to numerous seating sections, making the experience accessible to more Arizona families. On the surface, it appears to be another ticket promotion. In reality, it represents a long-term investment in the franchise’s culture.

The Diamondbacks have consistently prioritized making Chase Field more than just a venue to watch baseball. Family attractions such as the Sandlot, Kids Club, Baxter’s Den, the D-backs Sign Station and other interactive experiences transform a game into an all-day event. Those moments often become a child’s first lasting baseball memory. That approach matters because today’s young fan is tomorrow’s season-ticket holder, youth baseball player and lifelong supporter. Organizations across professional sports compete not only for championships but also for attention in an increasingly crowded entertainment landscape. Creating affordable, memorable experiences helps build connections that can last for decades.

The timing is equally significant. Summer weekends allow families to spend meaningful time together while introducing children to the traditions that make baseball unique. Every autograph and inning spent cheering helps strengthen the emotional bond between the community and its hometown team. The Diamondbacks understand that culture extends far beyond the clubhouse. It includes creating an environment where families feel welcome, children feel inspired, and baseball becomes a shared experience across generations. Kids Free Weekend isn’t simply about filling empty seats. It’s about investing in Arizona’s future fan base, reinforcing community values and proving that the strongest franchises are built as much through relationships as through victories.
