NEW YORK — Facing elimination, the Detroit Pistons shocked a rocking Madison Square Garden crowd ready to celebrate a series win, beating the New York Knicks on Tuesday, 106-103.

It was another hard-fought, physical game, and foul trouble was a constant theme for both teams. The Pistons had juggle their lineups with Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren picking up a couple of early ones, while the Knicks had similar problems with Josh Hart and OG Anunoby.

Cunningham helped the Pistons ice the game down the stretch, making and setting up huge buckets to seal the deal as Jalen Brunson and Hart got caught on the bench and couldn't come back in for a huge stretch with no stoppages.

After a rough first half, Cunningham really set the tone for a strong third quarter that saw the Pistons take the lead, making some big plays on the defensive end and conducting an offense that was able to rack up dunks with some good ball movement.

The Pistons led by as many as 10 in the third quarter before the Knicks cut it down to three entering the fourth.

From there, it looked like pretty much every other game in this series: right down to the wire. For the second time, the Pistons found a way to come out on top.

It wasn't Cunningham's most efficient night, finishing with 22 points on 6-for-17 shooting, but it was good enough to help the Pistons find a way to win after two straight close losses at home.

Now, the Pistons will return to Little Caesars Arena in Detroit for Game 6 (7:30 p.m./TNT) on Thursday, with the chance to flip this series on its head.
