Max Brosmer's first game as Minnesota Vikings starting quarterback didn't go so well. On Christmas Day, he'll get a chance to do it again.
Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell announced Tuesday, Dec. 23, that Brosmer will start the Christmas game against the Detroit Lions on Thursday (4:30 p.m., Netflix).
An undrafted rookie out of Minnesota, Brosmer threw four interceptions and was sacked four times in his only NFL start four weeks ago, a 26-0 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

"We have to disrupt him," Lions coach Dan Campbell said. "And then we can’t let the run game get going. These guys, they’re going to lean on you. They’re going to use the run game 'cause it’ll alleviate a ton of pressure and if we let them open the floodgates it’s going to be a long day for us."
The Vikings (7-8) have won three straight since Brosmer's start with Michigan alumnus J.J. McCarthy at quarterback, but McCarthy won't play this week after O'Connell said he suffered a hairline fracture in his throwing hand in last week's 16-13 win over the New York Giants.
Brosmer played the entire second half of that game and drove Minnesota for the game-winning field goal with 4:15 to play, but the Vikings leaned heavily on the run in the final two quarters.
Campbell called Brosmer an "accurate" quarterback – Brosmer is 31-for-47 passing (66%) for 220 yards this season –and said the Vikings' passing game led by All-Pro receiver Justin Jefferson is dangerous no matter who's at quarterback.
"If you give him time to see it, he can throw it and he’s got receivers to throw to, I know that," Campbell said. "The guy is accurate, so I think it really falls in line with anybody that we play at this point."
