Detroit Lions to interview Seahawks coach for offensive coordinator role

While the Seattle Seahawks earned a week off by taking the NFC’s No. 1 seed, the team has spent the week feeling the other side of a dominant winning season, with their coordinators becoming a hot commodity in the coaching carousel.

The Seahawks’ offensive coordinator, Klint Kubiak, and defensive coordinator, Aden Durde, have received their fair share of interest, and now the team’s passing game coordinator is the latest assistant to have his name thrown into the ring. Jake Peetz, who joined Seattle in 2024, will be interviewing for the Detroit Lions’ offensive coordinator position, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. The Lions fired offensive coordinator John Morton, with Dan Campbell taking over play-calling duties midseason.

Before coming to Seattle, Peetz was with Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams for two years, adding to an impressive resume of over a decade of NFL coaching experience. Peetz interviewed for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ offensive coordinator position last year before taking his position with Seattle.

With Kubiak seemingly a top target amongst the league, Peetz’s name has been floated as a potential replacement in Seattle. Seahawks’ coaches will have until Wild Card weekend is over to talk to potential suitors, then they’ll have to refocus on the team’s Divisional Round opponent.
