Detroit Lions to don ‘Rivalries’ uniforms vs. divisional foe

The Detroit Lions announced on Tuesday that the highly anticipated “rivalry” uniforms will be worn during the team’s Week 8 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.

As of now, the actual design of these uniforms has not been revealed. But team president Rod Wood gave a brief hint at what they may look like during the owners meetings this offseason.

“I know what it looks like and I think fans are going to like it,” Wood said. “It’s pretty cool. It connects to our uniform but it’s, like you saw some of the ones last year, it’ll add little wrinkle to things.”

There are rumors that the design of these rivalry uniforms will drop later this month on August 25.

Coincidentally, the Vikings have already announced that they will wear their rivalry uniforms in the home matchup against the Detroit Lions in Week 15 on “Sunday Night Football.”

This year, both the NFC North and AFC South will debut their uniforms. Last year was the debut of rivalry uniforms, with the AFC East and NFC West donning their styles. To get a sense of what the Lions’ uniforms may look like, you can see last year’s designs here.
