After a career year, Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell was rewarded with a lucrative contract extension.
Campbell inked a four-year, $81 million contract extension that keeps him in Detroit through the 2030 NFL season. The Iowa product's extension came with $51 million in guaranteed money and averages $20.25 million per season, which is slightly less than 49ers star Fred Warner makes as the NFL's highest-paid linebacker at $21 million per year.
Now, Campbell has another reason to celebrate this offseason. For the first time in his career, Campbell has been named to the NFL's annual top 100 players list.
Campbell checks in at No. 88 on the list:
Here was there NFL Pro insight on Campbell as well:
The Lions have other signature defensive stars, including edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson and safeties Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph, but Detroit defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard told reporters at the NFL combine that it's Campbell's defense.
"This is Jack Campbell's defense. And I don't hesitate when I say that," Sheppard said. "This is Jack Campbell's defense and everybody in that locker room knows it, point blank, period. It all goes through Jack."

Campbell made his first Pro Bowl and All-Pro team last season, emerging as the heart of the Lions defense. The off-ball linebacker’s 176 tackles ranked second in the league, but he added a little extra to his bag by more than doubling his previous career sack total of 3.5. Campbell was PFF’s top-graded linebacker in run defense (93.0) and second-best LB overall (90.2), plus he was no slouch in coverage, finishing 12th at his position with a grade of 71.4. It’s little wonder Detroit extended him in May. - Bobby Kownack, NFL.com

Campbell set career bests in 2025 with a 15.2 quarterback pressure percentage, 100 defensive stops and seven quick quarterback pressures (under three seconds) despite blitzing a career-low 17.7%. - NFL.com
