Frank Ragnow announced his retirement this week, and Detroit Lions fans have found a unique way to thank the former offensive lineman for his contributions.

Katie Kozak, who works with Ragnow’s Rags Remembered Foundation, said in an email that more than a hundred fans have made $77 donations to the charity in recent days in honor of the No. 77 Ragnow wore during his seven seasons with the Lions.

A first-round pick out of Arkansas in 2018, Ragnow made four Pro Bowls in the past five seasons and endeared himself to coaches, teammates and fans while playing through a slew of injuries. Ragnow has battled toe problems since 2021 and started 17 of 18 games last season, including the playoffs, despite suffering a partially torn pectoral muscle early in the year.

He wrote on Instagram this week he was retiring to preserve his health for his family.

Lions coach Dan Campbell grew emotional while talking about Ragnow before the Lions’ final practice of organized team activities.

“I respect the hell out of him for the decision,” Campbell said. “It’s not easy to do. It’s not easy to do, but he knows himself. I’d always respect that.”

Ragnow hosted his annual Skeet Shoot Showdown on Thursday, June 5, during which he told participants his decision to retire was “a very, very hard decision to make.”

The event raised more than $175,000, which the foundation uses to support kids who’ve lost a loved one, focusing on outdoor activities.

Kozak said another approximately $11,000 has come in the form of individual donations. Along with the $77 contributions, some fans are donating $7.70.
