He's a self-described "mauler," but as the most versatile player on LSU's talented offensive line, Miles Frazier was chasing style points last season.

"It's like dominators, extra efforts, pancakes, knockdowns," Frazier explained in a video conference with Detroit reporters April 26. "We had a competition. Our O-line room, we have an unbelievable O-line room with Emery Jones, Will Campbell, Garrett Dellinger, so we compete every day for those knockdowns, so I had a lot."

Frazier said the room lost track of its style points late in the year, but he earned enough of them to catch the Detroit Lions' eye in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The Lions traded up to take Frazier in the fifth round, sending sixth- and seventh-round picks to the New England Patriots to move up 11 spots for the 171st overall choice.

The trade was the third of the draft by Lions general manager Brad Holmes. On Day 2, he moved up three spots in Round 2 for Georgia guard Tate Ratledge and 32 spots in Round 3 for Arkansas receiver Isaac TeSlaa.

Frazier said he and Ratledge spent the pre-draft process training together with offensive line coach Duke Manyweather.

"Every step of the way I was with him training, doing my board work on the board, training for the combine and everything," he said. "So I have a good relationship with Tate and, yeah, that's my dog. I just met him recently, but he's family, definitely."

Ratledge, Frazier and last year's sixth-round pick, Christian Mahogany, give the Lions three young blockers for the interior of their line. Ratledge and Mahogany should compete for starting jobs this fall − veteran Graham Glasgow remains under contract as well − and Frazier adds versatility to a unit that was one of the oldest in the NFL last season.

In 2020-21, Frazier started 11 games at left tackle for Florida International. He transferred to LSU as one of the top players in the portal in 2022, made starts at left guard, right guard and right tackle that season and served as the team's full-time right guard the past two years.

Frazier, who allowed just four sacks in 39 career starts at LSU, according to the Lafayette Daily Advertiser, said he also served as the backup swing tackle last season and called joining the Lions "an unbelievable opportunity."

"I just think the versatility speaks for itself when you watch my tape," Frazier said. "If anything happens at any moment, I'm able to jump to the left side, left guard, right guard, right tackle, left tackle. The only position I haven't played was center, but I'm open to that, too. ...

"My coach put a lot of trust in me to have that versatility at the highest level and I feel like I could definitely do it."
