After several days of leaks, the Denver Broncos' complete (and official) 17-game schedule for the 2026 NFL season was officially announced on Thursday evening.

After going 14-3 and securing the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs last year, the Broncos made it all the way to the AFC Championship game before getting knocked out with a backup quarterback under center (Bo Nix broke his ankle in the divisional round). Nix is now on the mend, and Denver will aim to contend for a Super Bowl once again in 2026.

Based on 2025 records, Denver will face a .512 strength of schedule in 2026, 15th-hardest in the NFL. This fall, the Broncos will play 10 teams that made the NFL playoffs last season. It won't be an easy slate for Sean Payton's squad.

Here are five things fans should know about Denver's 2026 schedule.

1. Who do the Broncos play in Week 1?

Denver will go on the road to face the Kansas City Chiefs on ESPN's Monday Night Football on Sept. 14 in Week 1. This will mark the first time the Broncos have opened a season in KC.

2. How many primetime games do the Broncos have?

In addition to playing the Chiefs on MNF in Week 1, Denver will host the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night Football in Week 3, host the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football in Week 6, face the Pittsburgh Steelers on Black Friday in Week 12 and host the Buffalo Bills on Christmas Day in Week 16. In all, the Broncos will play five games in a standalone window.

3. When is the Broncos' bye week?

Denver's bye is in Week 10. The NFL starts byes as early as Week 5, so getting a break in the second half of the season is a win for the Broncos.

4. What is the hardest part of the Broncos' schedule?

Denver has an absolutely brutal start to the schedule with three prime-time games in the first six weeks, with all six of those games coming against playoff contenders. First, the Broncos will go on the road to face the Chiefs, then they will return home to host the Jaguars (who won 34-20 in Denver last year), then they'll host the Rams on SNF, then they have a road game against the Chargers, then they'll host the defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks on TNF on a short week. That would be a tough six-game stretch for any NFL team.

5. Who do the Broncos play in Week 18?

Denver will close out the 2026 season at home against the Chargers in Week 18. Depending on how the first 17 weeks go, that matchup could have big AFC West and/or playoff seeding implications for both teams.
