Hamlin Rebounds from Penalty to Win in Nashville Sean Gardner - Getty Images
Denny Hamlin won his Second race of the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season and 62nd of his career early Monday morning at Nashville Superspeedway.
With this win, Hamlin moves within one race of tying the late Kyle Busch for Cup Series victories. He continued the recent tradition of Kyle Busch's bow post-race in celebration and respect.
With qualifying canceled, Denny Hamlin started the Cracker Barrel 400 at Nashville Superspeedway from the pole, which should've set him up for success, but instead, he jumped start and was hit with a drive-through penalty, sending himself to the very back of the pack.
"I definitely jumped the start, no doubt about that," Hamlin told Prime post-race. "But yeah, just looking back on it, it just didn't wait quite long enough."
Hamlin battled back and survived a four-lap shootout at the end of the race with two of his Joe Gibbs Racing teammates, Chase Briscoe and Christopher Bell.
Hamlin left victorious, Bell settled for his second consecutive runner-up finish, and Briscoe finished third.
As the JGR drivers battled across the line, a few positions back , Chase Elliott and Tyler Reddick wrecked, with Elliott being pushed loose by Ryan Blaney and turning into and destroying the championship leader.
