DeLand hired Flagler Palm Coast baseball coach Kyle Marsh to take over its program, athletic director Lance Jenkins announced in a press release on June 10.
"We are excited to welcome Kyle Marsh to the DeLand High School community," Jenkins said in the release. "Kyle has demonstrated a remarkable track record of success both as a player and as a coach. He comes from a tremendous coaching pedigree with strong baseball bloodlines, and his experiences have prepared him to lead one of the premier programs in our area."
Marsh will move across the Volusia-Flagler area to coach the DeLand Bulldogs after five seasons with the Flagler Palm Coast Bulldogs from 2022-26. He'll be filling the vacancy former DeLand head coach Zach Spivey left when he stepped down in the offseason and opening a new one for Flagler Palm Coast.
"I liked his attention to detail," Jenkins told the Daytona Beach News-Journal. "And you know, we reached out to Kyle. He was by no means looking for a job. We reached out to him and asked him to come have a conversation with myself and [Michael DeGirolmo], our principal, and just shot a lot of questions at him and liked what we heard.
"What really stood out to me was just how he carried himself, how he went through what he does practice-wise and his process of what he does. And I felt it was pretty elite, a lot of the stuff that he does."
As the head coach for FPC, Marsh led the Bulldogs to three regional playoff appearances in 2023, 2024 and 2026. Flagler Palm Coast was a 2023 district champion and 2024 Five Star Conference champion under his leadership.
Marsh was also a standout at Spruce Creek High School, where he was the 2012 MaxPreps National Sophomore of the Year after recording an 11-0 record with a 0.35 ERA. He spent three years playing college ball at UCF from 2015-17 before finishing his playing career at Embry-Riddle from 2018-19.
His move relocated Marsh back into Volusia County and closer to home, which was a factor in his decision.
"For me, it was a hard decision," Marsh told the News-Journal. "I was at FPC for five years and built a culture there, so it was really a tough decision for me to make the jump to DeLand. Just sitting back and thinking about everything and putting everything in perspective, I thought it was the right time for me to make a move that was best for me and my personal life."
Flagler Palm Coast finished the 2026 season 16-11 with an appearance in the regional quarterfinals. DeLand went 12-13.
