Deion Sanders is opening up about his girlfriend Karrueche Tran and her best qualities.
The 58-year-old football coach first sparked dating rumors with the 37-year-old actress when she appeared by his bedside in a July 2025 video series documenting her experience undergoing treatment for bladder cancer.
They largely keep their romance out of the public eye. However, Sanders shed light on where they stood while speaking with PEOPLE’s Janine Rubenstein in San Francisco at the SiriusXM set at Media Row on Friday, Feb. 6.

Asked what he "loves most" about Tran, Sanders has a simple answer: He loves her "honesty of heart and soul."
The football star adds that there are "so many other desirable things" about Tran; however, this is what speaks to him the most.
He also reflects on how his partner supported him as he underwent treatment, saying, "She was there."
"She held me down. She kept me upright. She kept me straight. Kept me positive," he recalls, adding, "I'm already positive. But she did the doggone thing."
His compliment lines up with him describing her as a "good woman" during a January 2026 episode of his We Got Time Today talk show.
During the episode, he added that Tran "has added so much to my life and my days and my moments,” saying, “And I'm smiling.”

Sanders candidly documented his cancer experience, but he says that it was not a "vulnerable" situation since he's "always been an open book."
"God ain't built me to hide nothing," he says. "God built me to disclose everything so I could help others."
He continues, adding, "And my journey was tough. It was rough, but I kept moving. I didn't stop. I kept going. I kept walking forward. I kept testifying. I kept telling people how to get there and not to give up and not to give out but how to make it."
His cancer diagnosis does make his partnership with California Almonds more meaningful to him.
"They keep me looking good. They keep me in my prime. They keep me feeling right because I'm really health-conscious right now," he explains. "Regarding what transpired with me last season. So I gotta make sure I'm on point."
