The Colorado Buffaloes and head coach Deion Sanders have found a replacement for departing defensive line coach Domata Peko. Sanders is promoting from within, tabbing Dante Carter as the Buffs' new d-line coach per the Daily Camera's Brian Howell.

Carter was a Peko graduate assistant on the Colorado staff in 2025 and will now replace him after Peko left to become the Pittsburgh Steelers' defensive line coach.

Before joining Colorado's staff last season, Carter spent one year as the defensive line coach for Texas College, an NAIA school in Tyler, Texas. His team was impressive during his one year in Tyler, finishing fourth in the NAIA in sacks with 39.

During his playing career, Carter was a defensive tackle at Southeastern Louisiana before transferring to Prairie View A&M. He is a recent college player, having last played in 2022, when he recorded 29 tackles, two tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.

Colorado begins spring practices on Monday, where Carter will get his first chance to get in the weeds with a defensive line room that saw a major overhaul this offseason.
