Lucy Woodward and Malcolm De Sousa are part of Jersey's 22-strong team at Glasgow 2026 [Commonwealth Games Association of Jersey]

Long-serving bowler Malcolm De Sousa will carry Jersey's flag at the 2026 Commonwealth Games opening ceremony.

The 35-year-old is appearing in his fifth consecutive Games and will lead out the island's athletes at the opening ceremony on Thursday evening.

"I'm really honoured to be carrying the flag," said De Sousa.

"It's an incredible honour to represent the team and everyone who's supported me along the way. It's a special moment and I'm really looking forward to it."

Meanwhile, heptathlete Lucy Woodward will carry the island's Games baton at the Hydro Arena.

The 23-year-old is the first-ever athlete from Jersey to qualify for the heptathlon and is taking part in her first major international event.
