Thursday night offered the Denver Nuggets the first of two opportunities they would receive to close out the series against the Los Angeles Clippers. They failed.
The Clippers snuck away with a competitive 111-105 victory over the Nuggets at the Intuit Dome. Denver had a tough time slowing down the three-headed attack of Kawhi Leonard, James Harden, and Norman Powell in the contest.
Leonard finished with 27 points, shooting 11-of-22 from the field. Harden notched 28 points, with a field goal percentage of 50.0, to go with eight assists. Powell added 24 points on 9-of-15 shooting.
Once the game was over, David Adelman made it clear that adjustments were needed. However, the fix would be coming to their own offense, not the defense.

The interim head coach sat down for his postgame press conference after the night was over. There was one key aspect that Adelman believed needed to be cleaned up.
"We have to be more responsible with the ball," the Nuggets coach stated. "That's gonna be the key in Game 7. We have to have quality possessions, and we can't race the ball up and down the floor, not be under control."
Adelman added: "We need to control the pace better than we did tonight."
The Nuggets offense still managed to post some strong numbers despite Adelman's critiques. Denver finished the contest shooting 52.4 percent from the field and 40.7 percent from beyond the arc.
Clearly, Adelman believes the Nuggets can still be better than they were. Denver did turn the ball over 12 times by comparison to the Clippers' tally of seven.
That resulted in 23 points off turnovers for the Clippers in the win. Wanting that number to come down is certainly understandable.
