Danni Wyatt-Hodge dedicates stunning World Cup century to newborn daughter Daisy
England batter Danni Wyatt-Hodge struck an unbeaten 105 off 62 balls against Sri Lanka in England's opening match of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 at Edgbaston, and dedicated every run of it to her three-week-old daughter, Daisy.
Back from her maternity leave, Wyatt-Hodge attacked from the start, clearing the boundary and finding the gap with a freedom that belied the pressure of a tournament opener.
Thanks to her brilliant knock, England finished on 219 for 1, their highest-ever score in the Women's T20 World Cup, surpassing the 213 for 5 they posted against Pakistan in 2023.
When Wyatt-Hodge reached three figures, she marked the moment with a cradle-rocking gesture directed at the camera. It was a tribute to the baby she had not seen in six days.
"I was on about 90 and I thought I have to get a hundred for Daisy," Wyatt-Hodge said.
"I did it for my three-week-old daughter. I've not seen her for six days and it feels like six months. It is all I think about, even in the night."
Georgie, watching from home, also posted a photo on Instagram cradling Daisy with the words: "Well, that was special."

Sri Lanka swept aside as England bowlers finished the job
In response, Sri Lanka never found a foothold and were dismissed for 132. Freya Kemp was the standout performer with the ball, finishing with four wickets for 21 runs, while Charlie Dean and Sophie Ecclestone each claimed two wickets.
What next for England in 2026 Women's T20 World Cup?
England head to Southampton next to face Ireland on Tuesday. More importantly, Wyatt-Hodge will pay a visit to Daisy at her Southampton home before taking the pitch against their neighbours.
