Indian Wells finalist Daniil Medvedev has been plagued with travel issues lately. The Dubai Open champion was stranded there as the Middle East conflict between the US and Israel and Iran got underway.

Amid concerns that he may miss Indian Wells completely, his travel to Indian Wells from Dubai eventually happened though it was long and arduous.

Now Medvedev is joining other tennis players who are flying across the United States with little time to spare to prepare for the Miami Open. It appears Medvedev’s United Airlines experience was not seamless, and he has yet another travel problem.

Medvedev tagged United making a desperate plea for his baggage to arrive. He wrote: “Flew from PSP (Palm Springs International Airport) to Florida yesterday (March 16) and none of my bags arrived. Kind of need them to play in the Miami Open. Can you help?”

The airline replied with what appeared to be an AI response. “Hi there, Daniil. Thank you for reaching out. We are sorry to hear about your delayed baggage. We absolutely understand how important it is to have your belongings as quickly as possible. Please DM your delayed bag file reference number so that we can check for update.”

Due to a partial US Government shutdown, TSA is currently working without pay. Employees are stressed, tired, and calling in sick so all travelers are enduring hardships whether through delays, lost baggage, or weather-related issues. Medvedev is one of many dealing with travel-related headaches, but his have been especially large and difficult this spring.
