The clouds rained down at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Sunday, allowing Daniel Suárez to win the Coca-Cola 600 after a bold pit stop call put him in front.

Suárez gained the lead after taking two tires on a late pit stop. He held off the fresher tires of Christopher Bell and Denny Hamlin for two laps when rain fell. The field ran around under caution for a few laps before briefly stopping on pit road.

The race resumed after a brief delay, with Suárez getting another huge jump over the field. The rain came once more, this time hard enough for NASCAR to call the race.

An emotional Suárez saluted the late Kyle Busch after the win.

Suárez ran outside the top 10 for the entire race. He suffered two vibrations that put him down a lap at different points in the race.

The lead was mostly shared between Bell, Hamlin, and Tyler Reddick throughout the night. They finished second through fourth. Kyle Larson rounded out the top five.

Shane Van Gisbergen and Ty Gibbs also spent time in the front.

Crashes took out multiple drivers throughout the event. Austin Cindric spun on lap 53, and was struck by Connor Zilisch, ending both drivers’ days.

Chase Elliott wrecked out on lap 90. Ross Chastain wrecked out on lap 318.

Chase Briscoe bumped Chris Buescher on lap 329, causing both drivers to crash out. Josh Berry was also involved but continued.

Katherine Legge finished 31st in her attempt at “The Double.” Her Indianapolis 500 race ended early after a wreck on lap 18 in that event.

This story will be updated.
