UConn coach Dan Hurley has brushed off any speculation of bad blood between him and the referee in that viral clip after Braylon Mullins' game-winning Elite Eight shot over Duke on Sunday.

The clip in question showed Hurley getting in a referee's face and seemingly taunting him after Mullins' shot sealed the game for UConn. However, Hurley claims we're not seeing what we thought we saw.

On The Triple Option Show, Hurley explained that he and the referee in question, Roger Ayers, have a jovial relationship whenever they're on the court together. He even added, in this particular game, that the two were cracking jokes and laughing and that Hurley even put his arm around him at one point coming out of a timeout.

"He's such an easy guy to work with during the game that I thought he was coming over to chest-bump me to celebrate the shot," Hurley explained. "It's not like that for me with him, you know? ... In no way was that like, me and a ref that I had been at their throat the whole game."

Hurley explained that the viral moment in question was just the referee informing him of the clock time and the UConn coach just still being so hyped up after the bucket. He described Ayers as a "cool-ass ref."

ESPN's Seth Greenberg was right, at least according to Hurley. It appears as if Hurley was never in any danger of getting a technical foul called on him because the ref in question knew he was just messing around.

Well, that at least gives some good context to what looked pretty rough in the moment for Hurley.
