The UConn basketball team is preparing for Monday night’s 2026 NCAA Tournament final against the Michigan Wolverines at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, where the Huskies will be searching for the program’s third national championship in four years.
Ahead of Monday night’s primetime showdown, Andrea Hurley, the wife of UConn head coach Dan Hurley, stopped by the CBS Sports desk, where she shared a hilarious story about the Huskies’ Saturday night win. She jokingly credited herself for the win because of some pre-game heroics, including holy beads.
Andrea revealed that she realized before tip-off that she had forgotten one of Coach Hurley’s gameday superstitions, so she had to “leave the arena last night, run in the rain, get the beads … and then [get] a police escort back with the holy beads.”

She joked, “I saved it. The win is all mine.”
“He got this bracelet years and years ago in church, and they’re holy beads, and they’re from Jerusalem,” Andrea said. “He wears them every single game. They break all the time. They’ve been breaking for years. They fall all over the floor. So I string them [back together].
“I get to my seat last night, and [assistant coach] Luke Murray calls me and says, ‘Where’s the holy beads?’ And I said, ‘They’re in the room!'”

While it was an inconvenience, the last-minute errand paid off, and the Huskies went on to take down the No. 3-seeded Illinois Fighting Illini, 71-62.
We’ll have to see if Hurley can lead the Huskies to another national championship win on Monday night, when they take on the No. 1-seeded Michigan Wolverines at 8:50 p.m. ET on TBS, TNT, and truTV. Hopefully, Andrea will come prepared with the holy beads in her purse.
