In her introductory press conference with the Dallas Wings on Thursday, Azzi Fudd fielded a question about her relationship with Paige Bueckers — but it was batted down by a Wings staffer before the No. 1 draft pick could answer.

“Paige announced last year on TikTok that y’all were a couple,” a reporter said to Fudd, 23. “And I’m wondering if that’s still the case and if so, have y’all talked to any other couples in the league about how they negotiate that dynamic?”

Before Fudd — who will make $500,000 this year in her rookie contract with the team — could answer, a staffer interrupted.

“I understand why you have to ask that question but we’re gonna respectfully decline from commenting on our players’ personal lives,” the Wings representative said.

Fudd, selected first at the 2026 WNBA Draft, is set to reunite with Bueckers, 24, this season in Dallas.

The longtime friends, who first met in 2017 at a USA Basketball U16 national team camp, went on to play together at UConn and won a national championship together in April 2025.

Three months later, Bueckers confirmed the two were in a relationship during a WAG Talk interview in which she was asked, "How well do you know your D1 girlfriend?"

At the time, Fudd explained that their personalities are complementary.

"She's more outgoing; I'm quieter," she told Glamour in August 2025. "She's a little more feisty; I'm a little more calm and even-keeled."

Fudd continued, "But I feel like we're not naturally opposites in those things. I feel like we know what the other person needs in moments, and we adapt to make sure we can be there for them or balance them."

At the draft on Monday night at The Shed in New York City, Bueckers beamed while Fudd took the stage when her name was called.
