The Dallas Cowboys are being urged to trade a third-year defender for draft capital before the onset of the 2026 NFL season.
Bleacher Report's Moe Moton recently listed one trade that every NFL team should consider before the season's start, and for Dallas the deal involved moving on from third-year linebacker Marist Liufau.
Cowboys urged to trade Marist Liufau for draft capital
Moton suggested that the Cowboys flip Liufau for a late 2027 draft pick given his lack of impact to this point in his career.
"Under new defensive coordinator Christian Parker, Liufau will transition to edge-rusher. In two years as an off-ball linebacker, he has been unable to make a significant impact. The former third-rounder has 80 tackles (five for loss), 2.5 sacks and three pass breakups in 34 games (14 starts)," Moton wrote.
"If Liufau struggles with a move to the edge, the Cowboys could shop him before final roster cuts. Teams in need of a rotational pass-rusher may see untapped potential in the 25-year-old at his new position."
