Dallas a top market in record-breaking World Cup ratings for USMNT's win vs. Paraguay

The United States' World Cup-opening 4-1 win over Paraguay last Friday made history.

According to an announcement from Fox, the match reached just over 18 million viewers across Fox, Fox One and Tubi, making it the most-watched English World Cup telecast in U.S. history. The match's peak audience was 21,526,000 viewers and the ratings were up 132% from the United States' first group stage match in the 2022 World Cup.

The tournament certainly has Dallas' attention, as the Dallas area was the No. 3 TV market in the country wiht 7.29% of all households tuning in to the match. Kansas City took the top spot with 9.2% of all TV households tuning in for the USMNT's romp of Paraguay. The rest of the top five included Boston, San Diego and St. Louis.

The Americans' next game is set for Friday at 2 p.m. in Seattle against Australia.
