Crystal Palace reach agreement with Brest centre-back Raphaël Le Guen

Crystal Palace have reached an agreement on personal terms with Brest centre-back Raphaël Le Guen (19), according to L’Equipe. The Eagles have identified Le Guen as Maxence Lacroix’s replacement given that the France international centre-back is set to join Premier League rivals Chelsea in a €60m deal imminently.

A product of the Brest youth academy, Le Guen made his professional debut last summer, coming on as a substitute during his side’s 3-1 defeat away to RC Lens. Picked again against Auxerre (a 3-0 defeat) in March, the centre-back finally earned his first start against Paris FC (a 4-0 defeat) on matchday 32.

Le Guen put in a convincing performance and went on to finish the season as a regular starter, notably starting the matches against PSG and Strasbourg. All in all, the 19-year-old only has six professional games under his belt. But it didn’t prevent Crystal Palace from reaching an agreement on personal terms with him.

The Eagles are expected to submit an opening bid to their Ligue 1 counterparts in the coming days. L’Equipe reports that only an important bid would make Brest sanction a deal for Le Guen. The outlet adds that Fulham FC are also interested.
