Cristiano Ronaldo walked away from his final World Cup without lifting the trophy after Portugal lost 1-0 to Spain in the Round of 16. But he didn’t have to face the sadness alone, as his fiancée, Georgina Rodriguez, stood by his side.
Rodriguez took to social media to pay tribute to Ronaldo, writing a short but heartfelt message. The post went viral and drew praise from fans for standing by her fiancée during one of the hardest moments of his professional career.
“You will remain the king of the game and the best in history,” Rodriguez posted with a hug and heart emojis.
Ronaldo and Rodriguez got engaged in August 2025, but the power couple isn’t in a rush to tie the knot. According to various reports, they are expected to wed later this year, although Ronaldo previously shared that Rodriguez prefers a private celebration over a highly publicized one.

Cristiano Ronaldo leaves a legacy with Portugal, as his World Cup career ends with 11 goals and 27 appearances. After confirming to reporters that he won’t play in the quadrennial tournament again, the Al-Nassr striker said he remains open to playing for his country in the near future.
“I’m sad to leave the World Cup this way,” Ronaldo stated. “As I said yesterday, I gave it my all, and I leave with a clear conscience. That’s the life of a footballer. You have to move forward. It was my last World Cup, yes. But as for the rest, there’s time to think, to be with my family, and not say things in the heat of the moment.”
“I’ve given my all. I’ve won three titles with Portugal. The 2016 (Euros) title is on the same level as a World Cup,” he added.
Besides Ronaldo, Roberto Martinez also confirmed he has resigned from his head coaching job after a three-year stint. Jorge Jesus is reportedly set to take over as Portugal coach via a four-year contract.
