FRISCO - The Dallas Cowboys' Round 1 NFL Draft plans centered, if possible, around adding some help for CeeDee Lamb in the passing game.
Arizona's 6-4 receiver Tetairoa McMillan was the pinpointed guy. But as the draft fell the way it did, he went early and now at No. 12 Alabama guard Tyler Booker comes to The Star.
The selection hasn't gone down too well in Cowboys Nation, but adding Booker, a nasty, physical people-mover with elite football character, strengthens the offensive line protecting Dak Prescott.
But while the selection of Booker was made with a clear goal of power football, given Tyler's ability to open up huge running lanes, plus his pass protection ability which saw him allow just one sack in his entire college career per Ed Werder ...
Many are now asking what this means for the Cowboys' receiver room.
Is there a substantive trade that the franchise is working on with a current top NFL receiver? Two rival teams really believe Dallas is chasing a George Pickens trade (read our exclusive here) and COO Stephen Jones says those two "substantive'' trade ideas (involving veterans) remain in play.
Right now? Yes, the lack of receiver weapons is alarming.
So what - and who - to do in Rounds 2 and 3 on Friday?
Said personnel boss Will McClay: “There’s a lot of good football players all over the board still.”
Good.

The Cowboys believe they got it right in Round 1. Cool.
Now do it two more times. ... and try to do it with a balance of thinking that avoids "reaching'' ... while also solving the roster's most glaring hole as it exists in that receivers room.
