The Dallas Cowboys face a real roster dilemma heading into 2026. George Pickens delivered one of the best first-year performances any Cowboys receiver has had in recent memory, finishing with 93 receptions for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns in his debut season alongside CeeDee Lamb.
Dak Prescott had two elite weapons for the first time in years, but the problem is on the other side of the ball. Now, with Maxx Crosby still sitting in Las Vegas after a failed trade to Baltimore, one prominent Cowboys voice thinks the answer is obvious.
Bryan Broaddus Proposes George Pickens Trade for Maxx Crosby
Cowboys analyst Bryan Broaddus lit up“105.3 The FAN” with a trade proposal that would send Pickens and a first-round pick to the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for Crosby. “I would offer a one and Pickens to the Raiders,” Broaddus said.
When asked, “You think Crosby’s gonna have a bigger impact on your team than Pickens did?” Broaddus replied, “I think he absolutely will, yes. I do. I think to me, we’re right now, the thing that is holding this, and I know Pickens was incredible last year, but the one thing that is holding you back is this defense. You add him to this defense.”
Crosby remains one of the most disruptive pass rushers in the league. He recorded 10 sacks, 28 tackles for loss, and 73 total tackles in 15 games last year before his season ended on injured reserve in December.

He signed a three-year, $106.5 million extension with the Raiders in March 2025, and is under contract till the 2029 NFL season.
Las Vegas later agreed to trade him to Baltimore this offseason, but the Ravens backed out after he failed his physical due to lingering knee concerns. He returned to the Raiders, but his long-term future there remains highly uncertain as the franchise transitions to a completely new coaching staff following Pete Carroll’s dismissal in January.
The Raiders are currently retooling their passing game around a quarterback room featuring veteran Kirk Cousins and rookie Fernando Mendoza, leaving management desperate for a legitimate WR1 to stabilize the offense.

While the package solves a massive problem for Vegas, Dallas would essentially be getting fleeced, fixing the Raiders’ offense while completely breaking their own.
Trading Pickens at 25 years old, who is coming off a Pro Bowl season, means removing the player who gave Prescott arguably the best receiving duo of his career. The remaining depth at the position consists of third-year wideout Ryan Flournoy and the remnants of a receiving corps that has not proven it can carry a passing game without elite talent alongside Lamb.
However, the defensive case holds immense weight. New coordinator Christian Parker arrives with real credentials but inherits a unit that was historically bad in 2025 following the departure of Micah Parsons, landing dead last at No. 32 overall via PFN’s Defensive Impact Rankings while giving up a staggering 30.1 points per game.
Parker’s unit has been aggressively reloaded this offseason as Dallas has added edge rusher Rashan Gary, 2026 first-round picks Caleb Downs from Ohio State, and Malachi Lawrence from UCF, giving the entire defense a completely revamped look.
The Cowboys have reportedly contacted the Raiders about Crosby multiple times this offseason without success. Whether Broaddus’ specific package is the one that gets it done is another matter, but with training camps looming, the conversation isn’t going away.
