Another Detroit Lions scheduling domino dropped on Wednesday afternoon.

Per NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Lions are hosting the Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving. It will be the second time in three seasons that the Lions have hosted the Bears on Thanksgiving.

Detroit topped Chicago, 23-20, on Thanksgiving in 2024 behind a pair of touchdown passes from quarterback Jared Goff.

The Lions' Thanksgiving matchup against the Bears could also be the perfect opportunity to bust out their new Nike Rivalries uniforms. While the uniforms have yet to be revealed, Lions president and CEO Rod Wood confirmed that Detroit is one of the teams getting them in 2026.

The Lions can wear the new Nike Rivalries uniforms once per season and it must be at home versus a division opponent.

Wood had said that the Lions would wait to choose who they would wear the new alternate uniforms against until after they saw their full 2026 schedule.

"Yeah, we're the second year of the Rivalry uniforms, so if you watched last year, two divisions wore them. You get to wear them once at a home game against one of your division opponents. And so, once the schedule comes out in May and we know who we're playing at what games and primetime versus Sunday afternoon, we'll sit down and figure out the best time to unveil them.

"I'm pretty excited about them. They're kind of consistent with our colors and our look, but I think with a little modern twist that the fans are going to like. That was a process that we went through over several years with Nike and telling them what we would be interested in. They'd come back with a version, we'd push back and it goes back and forth. We finally settled on one that I think everyone's going to like," Wood said.

The Lions will know what time and when their home dates against the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings are tomorrow evening during the full 2026 NFL schedule release. Detroit wore its Motor City Muscle uniforms against the Vikings last season on Christmas Day.

Would they wear alternates against the Vikings two seasons in a row?

Or, does that make it more likely that it's either against the Packers or Bears for the new Nike Rivalries alternates? Is anybody superstitious enough to point out that the Lions lost that Christmas Day game against the Vikings last season, 23-10, had six turnovers and were eliminated from the playoffs?

Last season, the NFL revealed its first batch of Nike Rivalries unis on Aug. 28, 2025, so that could be a good timeline of when to expect to see our first glimpse of the Lions' new alternate uniforms.
