Now that the Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray will be parting ways with the team, what will he do next?
Some, like Oakland A’s general manager, David Frost hopes he returns to baseball.
“Kyler is an elite NFL quarterback, and I’m sure there are plenty of opportunities for him to continue his football career. That said, he and his baseball representatives know that we’re always open to him exploring a return to baseball with the A’s if that time ever comes.”
The A's still hold Murray's baseball rights after making him the No. 9 overall pick in the first round of the 2018 Major League Baseball Draft.
A year later, the former Heisman Trophy winner from Oklahoma decided to take his talents to the NFL, where Arizona selected him No. 1 overall in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Murray will more than likely continue his career in football with several teams vying for his services. There are reportedly five teams interested in Murray right now:
The Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets, Miami Dolphins, Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Los Angeles Rams.
The Rams seem to be the team to beat for Murray’s services if he is willing to sit out a year and back up Matthew Stafford.
