The San Francisco 49ers don't pick until No. 11 in this year's draft, but there are some goings on in the top 10 that they should be keeping a close eye on.
We've already covered how the quarterback stocks in this year's class could help the 49ers. We've also gone over the reasons University of Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham could slide down the board.
Now some news on Penn State defensive end Abdul Carter's foot injury puts him in the bucket of things in the top 10 worth watching for the 49ers.
According to CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones, Carter is not expected to work out Friday at Penn State's Pro Day. He also skipped workouts at the NFL combine where a stress reaction was discovered in his foot, putting an injury red flag on the consensus top defensive end in the 2025 NFL draft.
Most mock drafts don't have Carter falling out of the top four, and a player as talented as him is unlikely to slide too far even if his ailing foot is a significant medical concern. However, if Carter is unable to work out for teams before the draft and there's no clarity on his health status for the 2025 season, we could see his stock start to slip where an unlikely fall gives the 49ers a gift at the No. 11 pick.
