Will New York Giants coach John Harbaugh win the 2026 AP NFL Coach of the Year award?

Coach Harbaugh is entering his first season with the Giants in 2026. The Ohio native served as head coach of the Baltimore Ravens from 2008 to 2025 before agreeing to take over in New York. Harbaugh previously won the AP Coach of the Year award in 2019 and is considered a strong candidate to claim the honor for a second time in his career.

DAZN’s Jason Abbey, in his predictions for the NFL’s 2026 end-of-season awards, projects Harbaugh to win AP Coach of the Year honors in his debut season with the team.

The squad looks stronger on paper, assuming the injury luck improves.

Jaxson Dart, Cam Skattebo and Malik Nabers all missed significant time last season, and with Francis Mauigoa, Arvell Reese and Tremaine Edmunds among the new arrivals, there's a solid case that the Giants are being underestimated.

If it all comes together as it should, Harbaugh takes the credit.

Harbaugh inherited a talented Giants roster that has been bolstered by key additions in free agency and the 2026 NFL draft. The Giants now have the potential to feature a 1,000-yard rusher in Cam Skattebo, a standout receiver in Malik Nabers, and a league leader in sacks with Brian Burns.

The talent is in place for coach Harbaugh to make an immediate impact in New York. His Super Bowl-winning experience should pay significant dividends for the team next season. The NFC East is not guaranteed to be claimed by the Philadelphia Eagles or Dallas Cowboys.

If Harbaugh guides the Giants to a division title with a much-improved record while reshaping the team’s culture, a second Coach of the Year award would be well deserved.
