Conor McGregor isn't even thinking of ring rust ahead of his highly anticipated comeback at UFC 329.

McGregor (22-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC) returns to rematch Max Holloway (27-9 MMA, 23-9 UFC) in a welterweight bout on July 11 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas (Paramount+).

It's been five years since "The Notorious" last competed when he broke his leg in a TKO loss to Dustin Poirier in July 2021. He attempted to return at UFC 303 in June 2024 against Michael Chandler, but a broken pinky toe forced him out of the bout. McGregor is looking at the bright side from all this time away.

"I look at my rest period that I've had," McGregor told UFC on Paramount+. "Whereas I look at other competitors in the space, including my opponent, I feel a lot more fresher than these opponents. I have had my time of rest. I feel I am coming into my prime now. I'm only entering my prime, and now and forever. So that is my mindset going in here."

The likes of Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman were never the same coming back from that injury, but the former UFC dual-champion is adopting a different mindset.

"I always say, 'An injury is not just a process of recovery, it's a process of discovery,'" McGregor said. "You uncover a lot about yourself. You uncover a lot about your frame, your body, your movements and your mechanics, what you must do to maintain it. So in actuality, everything happens for a reason. This allowed me to carry on with my career. It will bring longevity to my career."
