The Washington Commanders took on the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday, and it was an ugly game in multiple ways.
For starters, the Commanders wasted a halftime lead and ended up losing 29-18. However, before the game wrapped up, the teams got into a scuffle that led to multiple players being ejected.
For the Commanders, defensive back Quan Martin and defensive lineman Javon Kinlaw were thrown out, while Eagles' offensive lineman Tyler Steen was also ejected.
After the game, Martin was asked what led to the fight.
"I'm not really sure to be honest, I was just protecting my teammates," the defender said.
The fight happened when the Eagles decided to go for two late in the fourth quarter. There was seemingly no reason to do so, as the Eagles went up by 19 points instead of 18. Head coach Dan Quinn voiced his displeasure with the Eagles after the game.
Martin was visibly frustrated after the contest. The Illinois product was asked what was going through his mind after another loss.
"Definitely frustrated. I mean... I don't know, honestly," a dejected Martin explained.
The Commanders fell to 4-11 on the season after Saturday's loss. The team still has one more game against the Eagles, which will be interesting considering the bad blood between the two.
