Trey Amos is back. And he isn’t the only Commander now cleared to practice.

The second-year cornerback was cleared for practice and taken off the active\physically unable to perform list, the team announced on Friday morning. There was no corresponding move because Amos already counted against the Washington’s roster.

Washington also activated edge rusher Dorance Armstrong (knee) off active/PUP and brought punter Tress Way (pectoral) off the non-football injury list. Head coach Dan Quinn said Armstrong will be brought along slowly, in walk throughs and lighter activity, as they build him up.

Washington placed Amos on active/PUP on July 25, after the initial wave of Commanders reported to training camp.

While the 2025 second-round draft pick has not practiced or played with the team since suffering a fractured fibula on Nov. 9, 2024, in a Week 10 loss to the Detroit Lions, head coach Dan Quinn said he’s now sidelined dealing with soft tissue soreness.

Quinn also said that Amos would be reassessed on Thursday by the team’s medical staff. That evaluation obvioulsy went well, as he passed a physical and will return to practice with the team.

Amos is expected to be the top Commanders cornerback, a title earned with a strong start to his rookie campaign. Washington fortified its cornerback corps by signing veterans Rasul Douglas and Amik Robertson, though Robertson missed Wednesday’s practice for undisclosed reasons.

Defensive lineman Deatrich Wise (quadriceps) are also on active\PUP.
