Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin has been as loyal as they come to his team. Only two players have been on the Commanders' roster longer than McLaurin: Punter Tress Way and defensive tackle Daron Payne.
During his time with the Commanders, McLaurin has rarely missed a game. He missed two games during his rookie season, one game the following season, and then went four straight seasons without missing a single game.
Then there was the 2025 season. For the first time in his career, McLaurin missed seven games due to injury. Even with missing those games, McLaurin was still in the top five wide receivers in first downs per route run.
This statistic, along with what McLaurin has shown on film over the last seven seasons, is why the Commanders eventually bent and agreed to his contract extension. Adam Peters knows the value of a reliable wide receiver, and there was no way the Commanders were going to let McLaurin sit out any games over a contract dispute.
Unfortunately, his holdout while waiting for the contract likely caused the quadriceps injury that kept him out of games in 2025. But since his contract was solidified, McLaurin won't be holding out of training camp or preseason activities in 2026. Which means he should be back to his usual, durable self and remain available for Jayden Daniels this season.
