ESPN's "top 10" list continued on Wednesday, with executives, coaches and scouts naming the top 10 wide receivers. Washington Commanders wideout Terry McLaurin did not make the cut.

At first glance, the omission is not a surprise. For the first time in his NFL career, McLaurin missed significant time last season. After a Week 3 quad injury, McLaurin would miss a total of seven games. He would finish the year with career lows across the board with 38 receptions, 582 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

There were many problems with Washington last season, and injuries were chief among them. Quarterback Jayden Daniels, who connected with McLaurin for 15 touchdowns a year earlier, only played in parts of three games with his star wide receiver. The Week 1 win over the Giants was the only complete game the duo played together.

Back to ESPN's rankings. After the top 10, ESPN names some players who received honorable mention and a few more in the others receiving votes category. McLaurin placed fourth in the final category. If we go by these rankings, that means he's the NFL's 20th-ranked wideout in 2026.

Injuries aside, McLaurin is completely disrespected here. Look at some of the other players on the list. They've missed time. Heck, some of the players ahead of him barely played last season. While there has always been debate about whether McLaurin is actually a top-10 receiver, he's certainly better than No. 20.

Until Daniels' arrival in 2024, McLaurin played with a who's-who of quarterbacks. It was someone different every year. He still put up 1,000 yards. He never missed time with injury. Most notably, McLaurin has never had a true 1b opposite him to draw attention away from opposing defenses. Before Daniels, NFL teams knew they needed to just stop McLaurin. And he still produced.

McLaurin proved in a Week 8 loss to the Chiefs last season why he remains one of the NFL's top receivers. It was his first game back from injury, and he made two outstanding catches, including one for a touchdown, to keep the Commanders, with Marcus Mariota under center, in the game. He would reaggravate the injury and miss a few more games.

Washington's offense was lifeless without McLaurin. When you're ranking these types of things, that's something you should consider. Just one year earlier, McLaurin proved he could put up elite numbers with a top-flight quarterback. Unfortunately, injuries to him and Daniels helped ruin Washington's 2025 season.

Where should McLaurin rank? We'll leave that up to him to remind everyone on the field this season. McLaurin is more motivated than ever to put a nightmarish 2025 season behind him — just like Daniels. And he'll be playing in a new offense, where coordinator David Blough said his goal was to give McLaurin 10 or more targets per game.
