Back in November of 2024, the Washington Commanders made a trade with the New Orleans Saints that brought cornerback Marshon Lattimore to the secondary. Even at the time it happened, many questioned bringing Lattimore to the D.C. area. His attitude wasn't great, and he was injured at the time, sitting out his first four games with the team.
The Commanders had a fantastic 2024 season, and Lattimore seemed to be potentially fitting in with the team, so the Commanders kept him around. But the veteran cornerback tore his ACL in Week 9 and was placed on season-ending injured reserve. Now, the offseason has barely begun, and Lattimore finds himself in the hands of the law.
It's not the first time Lattimore has been arrested. Back in 2021, he was arrested for having a handgun that was stolen. He was charged with possession of a concealed weapon and receiving stolen property. He later produced a concealed carry license and pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of failing to inform officers he had a handgun. He paid a $1,000 fine and served one year of probation. The felony gun charge was dismissed.
This will be a second gun offense in the state of Ohio if he is found guilty and charged with a crime. And, if he is, especially since he's still rehabbing his torn ACL, finding a job will be difficult. With one year of non-guaranteed money remaining, most expected the Commanders to cut Lattimore anyway. This essentially seals his fate.
Through his 11 games with the Commanders, Lattimore recorded 31 tackles (19 solo), one interception, 10 pass deflections, and 1.5 stuffs. Combined with his hot-headed attitude and pure desire for conflict, these stats suggest he is done in Washington.
