The Indianapolis Colts will be hosting Ole Miss safety Kapena Gushiken on an official pre-draft visit, according to draft analyst Tony Pauline.
During the pre-draft process, each NFL team can have up to 30 draft prospects take an official visit. These visits can be with first-round prospects all the way to UDFAs.
Let's take a closer look at what Gushiken could bring to the Colts.
The 2025 season was Gushiken's first at Ole Miss after previously playing at Washington State. Over three seasons, he appeared in 40 games, which includes averaging 800 defensive snaps over the last two years.
At Washington State, most of Gushiken's snaps came from the slot, but at Ole Miss, he was moved around more, regularly playing deep, in the box, and at the nickel. In 2025, Gushiken logged one interception, three pass breakups, and held opponents to a completion rate of 59% on 49 targets. For what it's worth, he graded out well against the run by PFF's metrics.
Although the Colts signed Jonathan Owens and Juanyeh Thomas in free agency to compete with Hunter Wohler for the strong safety role next to Cam Bynum, there are still unknowns around what the Colts truly have at that position. That final roster spot or two at this position will be up for grabs as well, with there being little experience on the back end of the depth chart. Adding more safety competition wouldn't be a bad idea.
