Now back in the NFL on the Indianapolis Colts' practice squad, quarterback Phillip Rivers has also been added to the Madden 26 roster.
So what is Rivers' initial Madden rating?
Having not played an NFL snap in nearly five years, Rivers' overall score is a 70. His throw power is 83, short throw accuracy is 86, and his speed is 59.
While Shane Steichen and the Colts were going to see how this week of practices unfolded for Rivers before determining who the team's starting quarterback will be against Seattle, all signs seem to be pointing to Rivers getting the nod.
Rivers has the fourth overall pick in the 2004 NFL draft. He's an eight-time Pro Bowler and was the 2013 NFL Comeback Player of the Year.
He's also a current semifinalist for the 2026 Pro Football Hall of Fame class, but with his return, that induction may have to be delayed.
"I'll try to make this as simple as I can," Rivers said of why he returned. "I'll try not to get emotional with you asking that. As simple as I can be, a coach that I love and an organization that I really enjoyed being with. Mr. Irsay believing in me in that year 2020 when it didn't go so good in 2019.
"Shoot, the teammates that I was able to play with. Shoot, 14 of them are still here. The training room is still the same. PR guys are the same. Equipment room is the same. And they wanted me. I'll try to keep it as simple as that."
